Terms and Conditions

Last Updated: May 2026

Welcome to Lizzie Rue (“we,” “our,” “us”). By browsing our online store or purchasing from us, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before placing an order.

1. Welcome, Product Scope, and User Eligibility

  • Our Product Ecosystem: Lizzie Rue is an independent local design studio offering a diverse, evolving range of high-quality goods. Our collection encompasses multi-age apparel for all sizes, lifestyle accessories, home textiles, and curated gift boxes, alongside our specialized custom print, corporate, and team branding services.
  • Minor Policy & Parental Consent: While our product range includes items suitable for children and school-aged youths, this website is intended strictly for users with full legal contractual capacity.
  • Transaction Requirements: If you are under the age of 18, you may only browse this website and view our products with the involvement and explicit consent of a parent or legal guardian. All financial transactions and checkouts must be executed by a legal adult (18 years or older) using an authorized payment method.

2. Studio Production & Local Sourcing Disclaimer

  • Handmade & Studio-Crafted: The vast majority of our product range—including our apparel, lifestyle accessories, home textiles, and custom curations—is meticulously handmade in our local studio.
  • Natural Variations: Because these items are handcrafted, slight variations in stitching, dimensions, pattern placement, and fabric colour are natural characteristics of the production process and are not considered manufacturing defects.
  • Bulk Orders & Local Blanks: For high-volume or bulk orders requiring “blank” items (such as t-shirts or bulk bags), we source blanks from trusted, local South African vendors. Customisation is always completed in-house by our studio.

3. Custom Prints (DTF & HTV), Mockups, and Physical Sampling

  • Digital Mockups & Layout Sign-Off: For all custom branding, corporate, or team orders, Lizzie Rue will provide a digital mockup of the design layout on the item at no additional charge. Production will only commence once the client has explicitly signed off and approved this digital proof. Once approved, Lizzie Rue is not liable for errors in layout, text, spelling, or positioning that were present on the approved mockup.
  • Physical Sampling Policy: If the client requests a physical sample print (e.g., a sample print on a t-shirt or bag) prior to approving a full production run, the client is strictly liable for the full cost of the physical sample. This includes the cost of the blank item, the printing materials used, labor, and any associated courier delivery fees.
  • Sample Non-Refundability: Physical samples are produced as a custom, one-off service. Therefore, all sampling fees are completely non-refundable and non-creditable, regardless of whether the client decides to proceed with the final bulk order or cancel the project.
  • Artwork Quality & File Formats: The final print quality of your custom orders depends entirely on the file you provide. Lizzie Rue is not responsible for blurry, pixelated prints resulting from low-resolution files. To guarantee a premium, crisp finish, artwork must be submitted in a print-ready format. We highly recommend high-resolution .PNG files (minimum 300 DPI with a transparent background), or true vector files (.SVG, .EPS, or vector-based .PDFs). Please note that saving a low-quality, pixelated image inside a PDF format does not improve its quality; we print exactly what is submitted.
  • Color Profiles (CMYK vs RGB): All artwork should be designed and submitted in the CMYK color profile. If you submit files in RGB (the standard format for phone and computer screens), our printing systems will automatically convert them to CMYK. Lizzie Rue cannot be held liable for variations in color vibrancy or shade alterations caused by this automatic conversion.
  • Customer-Supplied Artwork: If you submit a custom design or logo, you warrant that you own the intellectual property rights to that image. We reserve the right to reject artwork that infringes on trademarks or copyright.
  • Lizzie Rue Designs: All original prints, website text, product photographs, and garment designs created by Lizzie Rue remain our exclusive intellectual property.

4. Inventory Status, Back-Orders, and Custom Production Times

  • Ready-to-Ship Items: The majority of our standard catalogue items are pre-manufactured by our studio and are ready to go. These orders are packed and dispatched to the courier within 1-2  business days after your Payfast payment clears.
  • Everyday Essentials Back-Orders: Due to high seasonal demand, items within our Everyday Essentials category (such as specific sizes or colours of hot pants and scrunchies) may occasionally fall into a Back-Order status. If an item is ordered on back-order, please allow 3-5  business days for our studio to cut, stitch, and complete production before dispatch.
  • Custom-Printed Production Times: Because items featuring custom prints or personalized vinyl work are made strictly to your specifications, they require a dedicated production lead time of 5-10  business days for design verification, printing, heat-pressing, and finishing.
  • Bulk & Vendor Sourced Orders: For high-volume team orders where “blank” base items must be sourced from our local South African vendors, production lead times may extend up to 14 business days, depending entirely on vendor stock availability.
  • Shipping vs. Production: Courier transit windows chosen at checkout commence strictly after the relevant studio production or packing window is complete.

5. Payments via Payfast by Network & Merchant Responsibility

  • Accepted Payment Methods: Payment may be made via Visa, MasterCard, Diners, or American Express Cards, or by bank transfer into the Lizzie Rue bank account, the details of which will be provided on request. All transactions are securely processed in South African Rand (ZAR).
  • Payment Gateway & Security: Card transactions will be acquired for Lizzie Rue via Payfast by Network, who are the approved payment gateway for all South African Acquiring Banks. Payfast by Network uses the strictest form of encryption, namely Secure Socket Layer 3 (SSL3), and no card details are stored on this website. Users may go to payfast.io to view Payfast’s security certificate and security policy.
  • Customer Privacy: Customer details will be stored by Lizzie Rue separately from card details, which are entered directly by the client on Payfast by Network’s secure site.
  • Merchant Responsibility: Lizzie Rue takes full responsibility for all aspects relating to the transaction, including the sale of goods and services sold on this website, customer service and support, dispute resolution, and delivery of goods.
  • Order Processing: Production on your items will only commence once Payfast sends a successful payment clearance notification to our studio. Abandoned or unverified Instant EFT sessions will cause the order to cancel automatically.

6. Order Cancellations, Material Locks, and Administrative Fees

  • Cancellation Requests: If you wish to cancel an order, you must notify us immediately via email at admin@lizzierue.co.za
  • Cancellations Before Production or Material Sourcing: If you cancel an order after payment has been received but before our studio has ordered raw materials, cut vinyl, or commenced any production, a flat Administrative and Gateway Fee of R20.00 will be deducted from your total refund amount to cover non-refundable merchant fees levied by Payfast by Network.
  • The Customization Lock (Custom & Branded Orders): For any items requiring custom prints, specific branding, or personalized logos, production begins the moment your design is approved and your print files are queued or vinyl is cut. Once custom printing materials are ordered, cut, or processed, the order is completely locked. No cancellations, modifications, or refunds will be issued under any circumstances.
  • Cancellations on Standard Stock & Back-Orders: Once production has commenced on standard, non-personalized back-orders, cancellations will attract a 20% handling and restocking fee to cover fabric cuts and allocated studio labor.

7. Returns, Exchanges, and Cancellations by Product Category

Because our items range from customized studio builds to intimate lifestyle wares, returns and exchanges are handled strictly according to the product classification:

  • Custom-Printed & Bespoke Commissions: All sales are final sale for items featuring personalized text, logos, custom branding, or customer-approved artwork. We cannot offer returns, cancellations, or exchanges on personalized creations unless there is a clear, verifiable structural defect or printing error upon delivery.
  • Intimate & Hygiene-Sensitive Accessories: Due to strict health, hygiene, and consumer safety regulations, any clothing items worn directly against the skin or hair and facial accessories cannot be returned or exchanged once their original protective packaging has been opened, unsealed, or if the item shows any signs of use or handling.
  • Standard Studio Apparel & Unused Home Textiles: Unwashed, unworn, and unused standard-size apparel and standard home textile items may be returned or exchanged within 14 days of delivery. The customer is strictly responsible for all return shipping arrangements and courier fees.
  • Processing of Payfast Refunds: All approved partial or full refunds will be securely reversed via Payfast by Network back to your original payment method. Please allow 3 to 10 business days for the funds to reflect in your bank account, depending entirely on standard South African banking processing cycles.

8. Product Safety, Garment Care, and Product Information

  • Choking & Strangulation Hazards: Hair scrunchies, laundry bags with drawstrings, and individual facial rounds are not toys. They contain small parts or cords that may pose a hazard to infants and young children. Parental supervision is strictly required at all times.
  • Washing & Aftercare Instructions: Lizzie Rue is not liable for shrinkage, colour bleeding, or damage to DTF/HTV prints caused by improper laundering, fabric softeners, or tumble drying.
  • Product Information Compliance: Specific care guidelines, washing instructions, and fabric details are clearly noted under the individual “product information” section on each respective product page of our online store. It is the customer’s responsibility to read and follow these care profiles prior to washing or using the items.

9. Limitation of Liability, Governing Law, Country of Domicile & Variation

  • Limitation: To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, Lizzie Rue shall not be liable for any indirect or accidental damages resulting from the use of our products.
  • Country of Domicile & Legal Address: This website is governed by the laws of South Africa. Lizzie Rue chooses South Africa as its country of domicile, and its domicilium citandi et executandi for all purposes under this agreement—whether in respect of court process, notices, or other documents or communication of whatsoever nature—as: 66 Errol Drive, Framesby, Port Elizabeth, 6045.
  • Variation: Lizzie Rue may, in its sole discretion, change this agreement or any part thereof at any time without notice. It is your responsibility to check these Terms and Conditions periodically for changes. Your continued use of the website following the posting of updates means you accept and agree to the variations.
